Just had our cast iron insert fitted, looks good, but it seems that the fitter (maybe to clean some bits that got dirty during the fit) has rubbed a bit of grate polish onto it and given the thing a bit of a sheen in places.

Unfotunately it was originally matt black (Rustins High Heat black paint) so this sheen is unwelcome . Three questions.....

1) How do I remove the polish??

2) And if I need to apply any more Rustins, presumably it won't adhere very well unless all of the polish is removed?

3) And lastly, I think the Rustins was originally sprayed, but does it apply well (ie a smooth finish) to an installed/vertical insert if done by paintbrush? (just thinking, its probably available in a spray can which might be better, if a bit of a pain to do in-situ).
