Caulking between ceiling and wall

I'm thinking when reading a bit it might be a good idea in the landing thats just been skimmed to apply caulk along the top edge.

Or flexible poly?

Would this stop potential expansion cracks in the generally warmer area?

Praying to god i don't get this issue in the other four rooms mind you!

If there are no cracks then don't use any caulk. Only apply caulk if its needed, to a wall that has been mist coated. The caulk doesn't stick to raw plaster very well.
