Central locking not working on front passenger door Ford

Hello.
Recently i bought a Ford Laser and the front passenger door doesn't lock.
It's getting really annoying as i am always having to lean over to open the door to let people in.
I took off the guard to have a look and i think it may be the central locking box.I sprayed it with wd40 to see if it looses some of the parts up but nothing changed.

It makes a type of grinding sound when i try and lock the doors so the unit may be stuffed.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

as this is a uk based forum,this info might not work on your ford?
does yours have global opening/closing?
if so does it do it off of the remote fob?
if it does and its only the drivers door not working correctly then i would be looking at the wires in the door gator.common problem on a lot of fords in this country,they and extremely tight and break/fray.
