Hello,
What hourly rate is about average for plumbing work as a self employed plumber (excluding any gas work)? I live in the midlands area.
Thanks.

Just thought there might be an average hourly for bathroom installation, central heating installation, maintanence, repair etc. I was thinking around £25 per hour excluding any materials. Would that sound about right?

Depends how much work yopu can get done in an hour, whether you are any good or whether after you have gone the customer has to call someone else to sort out the mess.

A lot of jobs can only be priced on result not time taken.

Do this:

1. Phone ten self-employed plumbers in the Midlands area.
2. Ask each one for their hourly rate (excluding any gas work).
3. Sum the rate for all the plumbers who don't tell you to p*ss off.
4. Divide the total by the number of responses.
5. Stand back in amazement at your ability to calculate an average.
