It's easy to work out if a deal like that is worth it. Find out the cost of the phone sim free unlocked.
Then deduct that from the total cost of the contract over how ever many months it is, usually 24. Then see what the remainder is.
With my phone and chosen provider (Samsung Galaxy Mega and 3) I could actually afford to buy 2 phones outright (ie one now and bank the rest for a new one in two years time) and still have enough left over to pay 10 quid a month towards airtime fees rather than pay the monthly fee for 24 months.

I wouldn't know. I can never understand Geordies. My father-in-law was one and I didn't have a clue what he was on about either. I sometimes got the impression, though, that he wasn't best pleased about me marrying his daughter!
