Hi,

It's been raining really hard in my area for the last 3 hours or so. I've just had a new roof fitted so I went into the loft to check for leaks. All was ok except I noticed a damp patch on the chimney stack about 6 inches diameter just below the point where it exits the roof. The chimney has some rough render on the outside in the loft space and the damp spot is noticeable.

Am I correct in assuming this may be normal given the fact that the bricks have probably taken on a lot of moisture. Being that a chimney is just a single width of brick I suppose this could happen.

Should I be worried about it ?

Regards,
Karl
