Hi there - I\\\'m looking to replace my 90cm cooker hood with a chimney hood. My current hood is not a chimney style, and is therefore vented straight through the wall. My question is, can the chimney style hoods be run straight through, or do they have to go up and through. i.e. can I use the existing gap on the wall to vent it? Many thanks in advance.

have you looked at the different types of vent kits and filters that are on the market.

yes, you should be able to use the existing vent. the "chimney" is really just for show. you can locate a socket on the wall in it, for the hood, if needed.
