Hi,

Just had a new bathroom suite put in and have also had thermostatic mixer shower fitted that is spurred off the bath taps.

Since this has been added occasionally when running the cold tap and turning it off the boiler fires just for a second.

Any ideas if this is dodgy/dangerous and what can be done to fix it?

get a check valve on the hotwater from the boiler should sort the problem. sounds like its passing up the dhw triggering the flowswitch. least it dosent come on when you flush the toilet.. seen that a few times

it's called bounce back, normally you will find that a section of pipe has been left in but capped off, I would speak to the plumber see if any dead legs of pipe have been left in, it is not serious but it is not desirable. I also agree that if there are no dead legs that a check valve will solve your problem :D

Before you do that, try running each hot tap on full for a couple of minutes - it can be just air bubbles. It'll probably stop by itself, as air dissolves in water, slowly.
