Hi, I have a Main Combi 30 Boiler & it just decided it wont fire up.

Flame fault light flashes which indicates either a condensate problem or worse..

Before I get an engineer out, want to rule out the basic stuff.

The condensate trap appears to be in 2 sections - one is full (where the main waste pipe enters from the top, the other half is empty (which appears to be an overflow chamber).

Is this correct, should half of it be constantly filled with water, or does it need emptying?

Any advices would be great as i'm a bit skint....

Of course won't be playin with any electrics / gas etc.....

Thanks

Lee.

Yes the trap is designed like that. The only way it could register a flame faliure and be linked to the condensate is if the trap or piping is blocked or there is water on the top of the trap causing an earth fault.

Check the condensate pipe is not bloked and all is ok with the trap. If it is call out a RGI as it is not something you should be working on

Have you got the gas switched on/in credit?

Try resetting
Does a small flame appear for approx 10seconds?
