Hi all,

I am trying to change the motion detector light which takes 2 cores and 1 earth. However, the wires from the wall ( pic 2) and the wall switch ( pic 3) is 3 cores and 1 earth.

Which 2 cores can i join together?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

What do you want the switch to do? Your choice is

A: when switch is off, light comes on when sensor detects someone; when switch is on, light comes on unconditionally.
B: when switch is off, light is off unconditionally; when switch is on, light comes on when sensor detects someone.

Looking at your first photo, it seems that
- There are three wires with a sort of "fabric" appearance; I presume they are going to the actual bulb, right?
- There are two (?) black wires that seem to go out the bottom of the box; they're going to the sensor, right? One of these clearly goes to the top terminal; does the other go to the bottom one?
- Where does the cable with the brown and blue wires go?

Thank you very much for the response.

Option A please.

Yes, the 'fabric' wires goes to the light bulb.

The brown and blue wires goes to the sensor. The black wire also goes to the sensor. Please see picture below.

Thank you.
