Hi guys, short question here - just wondering if I need to buy a 2 wire thermostat instead of the 3 wire one I bought in haste (haha)?

The boiler terminals are volt free (just one wire loop to break/make), but the 3 wire mechanical thermostat I have requires mains...

Is it possible to wire it to the boiler? I don't want to blow the boiler's PCB lol.

Boiler = Combi Ferroli 26kw

Thermostat = RTS Drayton

Pictures included in album...

Thanks in advance! :)

RTS is an electronic thermostatic. It won't work until you have 240v and a neutral to it. Your second diagram shows how to connect low voltage circuits, but this means you have to take 2 cables to the stat. Better off buying a simple mechanical stat like Siemens RAA.

Thanks for your reply

Ah, I thought it was mechanical just because it didn't have a digital display.

I already have the thermostat, and a 3 wire programmer too (doh!)...are you saying that both are out of the question? I don't mind extra wires etc

But which RTS do you have. 1, 2 or 3 won't do.

If you have the 4, 6, 9 or 10, then connect L and N to the boilers L and N on the fused spur. Then your 2 wire volt free connections for the boiler are 1 and 3 on the stat.

Damn, it's the RTS1 lol

Looks like it's going on ebay :rolleyes:

So the programmer is a Centaurplus C27 (horstmann), and is 3 wire also - would I need a different one too? Please say no haha

Wiring below:

Just ignore the cylinder thermostat (I have a combi)

Thanks!

I'm afraid this one is wrong too. The text on your diagram says only for mains voltage. I take it you want a wired room stat and time control. Get yourself a programmable room stat. Job done, all in one.

The Honeywell CM907 is a good one

Maybe your supplier will exchange for a volt free programmable room stat.

Good luck! ;)

Yeah I may try (screwfix), although not sure if they'd take something back that's not faulty and was down to my stupidity :oops:

You're right, I'm gonna go for the 2 in 1. Anyway, thanks again!
