Hi
I am wiring an outbuilding and was wondering if, instead of installing a separate lighting circuit, i could run a spur from the ring-main to an FCU and from there on to a junction box?
If so, would I connect the FCu and junction box any differently from usual? I have installed a junction box on a lighting circuit before and installed a fused spur before - I'm guessing its the same wiring??
Many thanks,
Clare

Yes you can, make sure there is a 3A fuse in the FCU and use 2.5mm² cable up to the FCU and 1.5mm² for the light switch and fitting.

Also you can avoid the use of a junction box by fitting a 5A connector block in the switch and linking the neutrals there. Looks neater than a junction box IMO.
