I cut into my mains water pipe yesterday, to connect a new pipe with a new stopcock position.
The existing main is 20mm OD lead pipe. The walls of it are about 5mm so the bore is tiny and cant fit an insert in it.
I bought a connector that i was told would join them, suitable for pipe sizes from 20-27mm but i cant get it to seal. I did it up as tight as i physically could and it gushed outog the lead side when i turned the mains back on.
Any ideas? I was going to try flaring out the end of the lead to be able to push in an insert.
