Hi,
I'm having some trouble with the plastic trim in my conservatory being pulled down by the blinds the previous owner attached to it. The trim fits onto some u-shaped plastic pieces with teeth that sit in an extruded metal fitting.
I've tried to add photos below. Any suggestions as to how to make the whole thing stronger and more secure would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks s60tsy, I've posted another photo below. Basically the blinds are all fitted to the trim round the conservatory already so ideally I wouldn't have to move them to the window frames and have lots of holes in the trim - hence I'd like to just fix the trim to the box section more securely if possible.

Was just going to suggest the same, why not use a longer screw and self tap into the aluminium ring beam? Just don't go too long as you'll screw into the gutter :D

Thanks chaps, think I'll give that a go then. Just a couple of quick questions before I do so if you'll bear with me...
a) any suggestions as to how far into the ring beam it may be a good idea to go?
b) should I drill some pilot holes or just go for it?

It'll be ok just going through 1 skin even if its a box section, some are some are a single layer and sit on the frames like an 'L', unless you have a self drilling screw like these...

If not then yes you'll need to pilot, size will depend on which screw you use, common size for this type of job would be 4 or 4.5mm

Length will depend on how far away your blinds are away from the ring beam but again you only need to penetrate one skin, no point going through it 2 inches
