Hi we have a conseravtory that we are thinking about trying to use through the winter. It is a dwarf wall with DG hard wood sides and polycarbonate roof. We were thinking about insulating then plasterboarding up the inside of the roof. Anyone done this before or know of any problems? Thanks

I think the failure rate of people attempting what you propose is higher than that of those climbing the big one. Although I was referring to the jackets, as you will need one!

It's doable, but will cost a fortune to keep warm, by the very sheer amount of glass and low amount of insulation in a standard conservatory. Plus you might get condensation problems if the ceiling is not completely vapour proof.

Aside from practical problems of wheather or not it's possible ( and nothing's really impossible , just a question of cost) doesn't the end result look a little odd. Isn't the insulation visable through the glass and a skimmed finish must mean this is a permanant thing it's not as if it can easliy be converted back into a conservatory come the summer.

The job does look better when you have a polycarbonate roof as you cannot see the insulation. This is a permanent soloution for people that want a cooler room in summer (particulary south facing) & a warmer room in winter.
