Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice before I give a new project a go..

I have a garage with a brick and block sidewall that I'd like to put a window in. It's purely to let in natural light as the garage is quite large but quite dark inside. No window opening exists at present and there's no interior decorating to worry about (block wall).

I'm pretty able when it comes to home projects but Ive not tried anything like this before so I need a little guidance on how to proceed. I was going to but the upvc window from a local supplier, but what do I need to know about fitting it?

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Cheers

Gary

You need to apply for Building Control and demonstrate how you are going to support the weight of the wall and roof above the hole, i.e. lintel.
