Hi Forum,
Since my previous post I've pulled away the carpet and underlay from the front part of the lounge to be inspected by a Damp Specialist. (Not sure how long the damp on the gorund has been there, but the damp on the walls has been there for several years).
I wanted to get some advice with the attached photo to see if anyone has seen this before... Being a total non-expert in this: it seems to me that the direction of seepage is key... Is the damp radiating out from the Chimney Breast, or, if the damp seeping from the Hearth to the walls...
One thing I noticed is that where some of the plaster came away from the Chimney Breast the brickwork is dry. Not sure of the significance. The upper part of the Chimney Breast shows no real sign of damp... I think there's a cowl on top...
Thanks for any advice
Mark
