I have just buit our decking using arbour forest decking, it measures approx 5m x 2.5m and have done it on a 45 degree angle.

We are really pleased with the actual look of the deck but the mrs does not like the look of the colour of the natural timber whereas I do, so to the problem, we want to stain the deck with something the compromises what we both want, something nice and light and hopefully you stil see the naturaness of the timber.

Can anyone please suggest anything?

Thanks in advance, kind regards Paul...

dont use a stain. they sit on the wood and will peel off in patches. put stain on and you have a job for life. your also stuck with the colour once you put it on. They dont do what they say on the tin

if youve just built it, leave it for a few weeks before you do anything as the colour will change in the sunlight. AFter that i would only recomend putting on a decking oil. you can get them with tints in to slightly change the colour.

trust me, ive ripped out enough decks for clients who have wanted to get the stain off, and there is no way!

I dont suppose you could reccomend a decent make could you, I have spent quite a bit on the deck for the size of it so just want it right even if I have to pay over the odds a little, thanks thermo :)

i have used cuprinol oil in the past. very subtle tints are the way to go if you really have to.

Currently in the process of removing a stain now. Taken me days of scrubbing and various processes and wish i'd just ripped it out and started again.

Part of the process involved using a power washer. In a few small places there looks like damp mould patches under the surface of the wood like the water has been forced into the grain

Any idea's if these can be removed or should I just live with it?
