can anyone tell me why my flame effect has suddenly shrunk ! they only rise half way up from the pebbles & there seems to be a black border covering the top of them.Any ideas ?

get a gas safe engineer to look at it , black soot and a yellow flame can mean carbon monoxide usually, and also lack of ventilation for the fire can cause incorrect combustion. for safety i wouldnt use it until youve had it checked.
