dishwasher tripping electrics as soon as it is plugged in

I moved into my house about a year ago and the dishwasher that was here has never worked. I have just got round to having a look at it! When I finally got it out to have a look at it, it had some ridiculous wiring at the back, so I undid the bodge job and rewired it back up correctly. But it still did not help. I changed the fuse, still no good. The socket works as i have tried with other appliances. Any help please?! Thanks

The dishwasher is a Smeg st45.
