Hi all,

Straight forward question hopefully.

Does a floor standing air source heat pump need planning permission in Wales?

The planning portal says it has recently been reviewed but the link is broken.

Thanks

Thanks Richard.

Our local council didnt even know what an ASHP was....dear lord!

Not sure where to turn now.

I've now phoned various planning departments in our area. There doesnt seem to be any specific guidelines for ASHP's....only for GSHP's and WSHP's.

How helpful!

They've asked me to email where we plan to locate it, and almost certainly (as ASHP's dont seem to have any separate guidelines and it's closer to a highway than our dwelling) it will be treated as an outbuilding and need planning!...Which is crazy.

I kind of dont want to email them and give my address.

I have a compost bin between my house and highway...does that need planning?!!

This is where we plan for it to go - in place of the compost bin.

There's a road to the left of the hedgerow.

As you can see the closest neighbours are about 500m away on the otherside of the valley.

Any ideas anyone?
