Door frame sealant/putty

Hi,

I need to replace the sealant/putty around my door frame before repainting it. But I'm having trouble working out what it's called and therefore having limited success with google.

I've attached two photos, it has a sandy texture and is about an inch thick across the back two faces.

It looks like tallow mortar of old, but it can be replaced with a one part gunnable polysulphide either applied after painting or before. If the later you would have to wait until a full skin cure occurs i.e. touch dry and capable of taking a finger dent...pinenot
