Chances of this?

Two randomly chosen eggs from two different boxes of eggs bought in
different outlets.

And judging by the colour of those yolks they are free range.

Well done on your choice.

Nah, intensively farmed from battery hens. All the chemicals and Tartrazine produce these mutant double-yolkers. ;)

Serriously, had heard of double-yolkers, but never seen one. Until a few weeks ago, when I had my first one. So one every 47 years for me.

Thanks for that - I'm salivating now!

I read once that you can hold an egg up to a candle, and see whether it is a double-yolker or not - don't know if it's true or not though.

And I echo the previous kudos given, on not breaking them :)

We usually get 4 or 5 double yolkers every time we get a new batch of POL chooks...

The current bunch are due for the chop, so we'll soon get some more :D

Thanks, guys! They are indeed FR. I'll be interested to see if there are anymore... ;)

A nearby farm sells really large eggs from time to time, pretty much every one a double yolker. People shop early to grab them.

Terry, shop-bought both boxes, but both free range.

I'll keep you posted if I find any more.

I hope I don't sound too arrogant when I say that I am disappointed if I do break one, but it happens only rarely.

Although I did spend 2 years in college in the 80's doing Food Technology, including all kinds of cookery imaginable. So I had lots of practice! ;)
