We had to replace the switch in the bathroom for the shower as the pull cord snapped.

Since we replaced it the shower has started tripping the related switch in the main fuse box.

Is there a problem with the shower or have we bought the wrong kind of switch?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Does the circuit trip with the switch in the on position, the off position or both?

It only trips when the switch and shower are on, I'll have a look at the inside when I get home, thanks!

Switch the shower off.

If it does not trip with the switch on but shower off, it could be a fault in the shower unit.

Unless you've changed anything else, like the CU, or MCB or RCD or shower unit itself, in which case, it could be an overload.

If it trips with the switch off, then there could be a short inside the switch box.
