What happened to 'woodyoulike' she was always so quick with this questions.
Not seen her about for a while.

Laquered = varnished / film forming finish

Brushed = steel or other brush making the surface rougher

Oiled = Errr oiled?

Varnish = hard wearing

Oil = better looking (bearing in mind personal preference)

I opted for oiled a couple of years back.

It has goods and bads. I like the look of it but it is a pain to maintain. doest stay clean for long (we dont make guests remove shoes etc) and it needs topping up with maintenance oil. But on the plus side a caster on the sofa went rouge and scratched the surface but with a bit of light sanding and oiling it repaired really well. Im sure a varnished finish would of been more difficult to match in.

I think with hindsight though I would of gone with the more superior brand. although I didnt go for the budget brand either. And I would take any maintenance products they offer at the time of purchase and I would ask for advice on maintenance at the place you purchase it as the firm I purchased from were a bit lacking and I had to seek advice from another company when I damaged my floor several months later.

But I have also done a landing in a superior laminate flooring and i think I prefer that to the wood flooring...
