I'm looking to extend the flex on a Sony KDL40EX503 TV. I thought I'd cut the flex and use a flex connector with extra cord and a new plug. I'm fairly comfortable with this but wanted to check the ratings before I go ahead. The TV is double insulated and the current cord is 2 x 0.75mm fitted to a plug with a 10A fuse (Bit surprised by this fuse rating?).

Would the following be suitable (with a standard UK plug fitted - should I stick with a 10A fuse)?

Hi, 0.75mm flex is rated at 6a however, the 10a fuse in the plug will be to allow for inrush or "switch on current" of the TV. I would use 0.75mm flex and the 6a inline connector would that will be fine.

Kind regards,

DS

The flex connector is rated for 5A will that still be OK?

No, it will promptly burst into flames and kill your dog.

Realistically, it will be fine, if you want to be picky, change the fuse for a 5A.
