Power is there but no water, read somewhere most likely solenoid or pressure build up in showerhead, checked showerhead so most likely internal problem

This is the shower I have.

http://www.showerdoc.co.uk/shower-spares/gainsborough/energy-1000x.html

Question: Is it just a case of purchasing a shower then connecting up to old shower connections or do I have to buy a specific model, i.e. another gainsborough shower. On their site it has a link to replace an old model

Not sure I want the shower they suggest wanted a more modern one.

Thanks for any advice

I am not an expert here but a like for for like model or modern equivilant with the connections in the same place would save you a lot of agro if you do not want to alter the pipe work or the cable entry. Penny to a pound these will vary from model to model

Also remember to try and match the kw rating don't be tempted to in install say a 10kw shower to replace a 7.5kw as you will need a larger mains.

6mm will be fine up to about 8.5kw but over this and you will need 10mm which can get quite expensive

why don't you just check the solenoid coil if you have no water flow
sure i'd rather pay £15 than £100+ for a new shower.

showerhead won't play any part in having no water flow. thats bad advice.

at the worst keep away from Gainsborough showers they are bottom of the shower range.

You can get a Triton for £49.99 if you only want something basic....feeds on the same side too

on the gainsborough site they recommend the Stanza 8.5 which is 119

http://www.gainsboroughshowers.co.uk/shower-store/electric-shower/Stanza-85-white/

but cheaper elsewhere 80 at plumbworld.

When you said colenoid coil is that the same as a solenoid valve in the picture below

http://www.showerdoc.co.uk/shower-spares/gainsborough/energy-1000x.html

Other problem which is main reaon for wanting a new shower and not getting new solenoid is about a year prior to it stopping working the dial which normally controls temperature of water stopped working so we left it at same temperature all the time, not sure if this is connected to the solenoid or not.

As for the Triton showers will all the 8.5kW showers on page below work, or does it have to be a specific type of Triton

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...logId=1500002451&langId=-1&searchTerms=TRITON

Thanks

stopped working. It did turn but didnt get warmer or colder when turned.

Only way to change temperature was click on High or Low Button, low was too cool, high was about right. Maybe that was the water control valve.

well for the price of a new control valve and solenoid coil will be better to get a newer shower.

Have to agree I can get a basic triton £60 ex vat

Argos can beat that - £49.99 for a Triton Hawaii 2 with a two year warranty. Seems to be Argos-only, merchants just give you blank looks if you ask for them! Got one last week for my local sports club as a temporary install while they decide what they want to do long-term, it's a reasonable shower and good for the money

They have a habit of doing that must buy them by the 1000000000000 for that price
