What size of fence post do I require for a 6ft high fence 75mm square or 100mm square

I got advised 75mm for the waney edge in my front garden but 100mm for the closeboard in the rear garden.
That said I wish I had gone for 100 all round, much more sturdy and well worth the price difference

Fence Posts,

4'' x 4'' @ 8' long (100mm x 100mm @2400mm)

18'' (450mm) into ground, (with post mix which goes hard in 10 mins)

Then 6'' (150mm) timber gravel board

Then fence panel 6' (1800mm) high

100mm will last a lot longer and will be a lot stronger. gravel board is always a must and we always put our posts in a minimum of 2 feet in.

I'd agree with Thermo, he's rarely wrong!! go 2' foot down, the extra 6" will make a world of difference in strength. If you need 6 foot and gravel board then go with 9' posts and cut them down to 8' 6" if you need.
