hi,

The house is about 60 years old. The first wall that I am looking at had wallpaper on it and also has had a horizontal channel chased out for electrics. This has been taken out and filled so far with a base layer of wickes (grey) ready mix plaster repair.

I have some thistle multi finish and some British gypsum easi-filler. My intention was to fill and sand back then paint with emulsion. Some bits are back to bare plaster and there is a magnolia coloured "stuff" that is water soluble that I would sand off. Is it old paste?

The wall is otherwise in OK condition apart from the odd dink but does have some eggshell cracking (?) which is so fine that I can't actually feel them. Like spidery pencil lines.

Basically what should I do to prepare the wall?

Many thanks.

Just to add

The worst wall is now almost sanded totally with 80 grade , back to the almost blue-grey plaster

A local trade supplier sold me zinzer ceiling pro 5-in-1 as a covering agent, saying to apply, then see what is revealed and fill what I see.

Do you agree? Sand it after? Grade?

There is some repair work that I will skim over with easi fill

The remaining walls have been painted at some point, and some of it is easy to strip with a big long handled stripper (Harris 6") I have managed a few scratches in the painted wall when removing the backing paper, which I could sand out

If the paint seems firm, is it ok to zinzer over or would it be better to attempt to remove it first? It hasn't keyed into the wall, as if a ****y coat wasn't applied.

This is my house and I want to stay here, so want the best finish that I can achieve.

Thanks again
