any tips on fitting a rigid copper pipe right up to the tail of the tap, like bending and cutting the pipe to the right position ?

Over the years I've noticed that the tails of taps either have the end ground out to accept a nut and olive or they are flat.

Its almost as if you don't need a tap connector, as anyone just fitted the pipe to the tail?

Only ever done this on the occasional ball valve

never seen the need to fit tap adaptors at all to sink or whb taps, all seem to take 15mm pipe so just use a nut and ring from a fitting, easier to tighten 1 nut rather than 2,
