Hi all,

Just. Received my ledger doors for our home renovation. Slight problem, the strap t hinges are too big to screw to the 1 1/2 inch door frame to position the hinge in the correct place for the door. This means the majority of the hinge will be attached to the wall rather than the frame, which I reckon means the hinges will work loose with usage over time. Without hacking back plaster and screwing hardwood blocks to the inside of the farm ( just fitted architrave and don't fancy redoing it) can anyone suggest a fix?

Smaller 'T' hinges, maybe? You'll get an excellent screw fixing into oak.
Or - cut the hinge plate down, and redrill extra holes for the screws.
John :)

you say the frame is 1½"?

So what size is the T of the hinge?

its about double the width of the frame, if you have the hinge gudgeon overlapping the frame. not sure if it will work with the gudgeon hinge overlapping the door?

I'd buy smaller hinges then.

But I don't like T hinges, too thin and tinny. I like Hook and Band.
