Hi guys,

Does any of you have an idea how to fix this lock? I think the spring must be put back in the correct position. Somebody picked this lock (building door) and I believe removed the round bit that allows you to maintain the lock completely closed or opened (picture 3) and then pushed the spring. Doesnt work at all now.

Hi,
are you sure you have all pieces?
It's not the same lock but try to watch this video:

Thanks Dave for your answer. Compared with the video the spring in my lock stands in the middle. As well I think the round black button that you see on the top in the video is missing in my lock.

Thanks for the advice John. Will keep that in mind and as I have a lot of neighbours we will have to discuss that together (for the keys...). Don't you think I could fix that one temporarily to lock the door at night?

You mean this is the street door for some flats?

Yes, you can bodge up the old one, but that type will collapse easily if kicked or barged (or if you lean against it heavily).

If you share duplicate keys, you can use the old cylinder with a new lock, if you wish.

Well, yes John that's the street door for 20 flats. Should probably buy a new night latch. Any kind of lock would allow me to retain the old cylinder?
