I am planning to convert the garage, have door bricked up etc,
A builder today who came to give me a quote, after a lot of "umm...ing and errr...ing" said the wall between house and garage doesn't have any DPC, and therefore would have to be fitted.
There is DPC at rear of house, so is there any reason why would it not be fitted between garage/house wall, I believe the garage was built some years after the house so assumed it'd have one.
I have chipped away cement on 4 courses of bricks from ground upwards and can't find a damp proof course on the wall in the garage.
Can a DPC be 'retrofitted' onto the wall being built to replace garage door and tied into the existing brickwork, is it a simple or costly thing to have done?
