As I can't afford the price of a total re-roof at the moment I was wondering if there is a treatment spray to treat the tiles from the loft to at least stop them flaking causing dust and muck falling over everything in the loft. Would spray mount or similar do it ?

Staple a breathable membrane to the underside of your rafters eg http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POWERLON-ULTRAPERM-LITE-BREATHABLE-MEMBRANE-1m-x-50m-/260705666094

Thats a cheap solution and if you look around you will find a roll of white membrane that will improve the lighting in your loft.
