Floor Area Calcs

I need to calculate the floor area (original, existing & proposed) for a planning application.

Any hints, tips, tricks, etc for doing this accurately & efficiently? Are there any online app/site to ease the process?

Or just old fashioned pen, paper & calculator?

What level of accuracy is required for planning apps? Millimetre, Centimetre or Aproximate?

I also want to calculate volumes - any specific tiips for this.

If you live in a rectangular house, you measure one side and times it by the other.

x 2 for the total floor

x room height x 2 for volume.

Answer in m2 or m3
