ford mondeo charging light on

Hi i have a 1.8 glx td mondeo r reg, the problem i have is when driving and i reach around 2000rpm the battery light comes on and then discharges the battery. is there any ideas on what to check?

Time for a replacement alternator I'm afraid...it seems like the voltage regulator pack has gone AWOL on yours.

I would disconnect the battery first (making sure you have the codes for any radios or other gadgets attached in the car) and clean up both the battery terminals to ensure you are getting good connections.

Then I would check the physical earth connection from the Alternator to make sure it is electrically sound.

Then I would look to buy a replacement alternator. Have a look on ebay, grab a bargain and fit it yourself. Cheaper that a garage!
