Having problems with a rattle/knocking front nearside when you go over rough road (broken tarmac/run up to zebras etc) big bumps etc not noticeable. Steering and handling not affected. Passengers swear it is coming from the passenger footwell area. Upto now have changed droplink and bottom wishbone (which included ball joint) all to no avail. Anyone got any ideas as driving me potty

The rollbar bush is clamped with the same bolts as the wishbone, so had the opportunity to have a good look at the bush, which seemed to be OK. But I suppose what looks OK and what is OK are two differrent things!

Its difficult to diagnose faulty drop links while the are still connected, you usually need one end off to detect movement.

It does sound like a drop link but you have already changed that , so recheck tightness of all nuts and bolts , check subrame mounting bolts , look for rust around bolts etc it can be an indication they are loose , try hitting the anti roll bar upwards where it mounts onto the the body( or subframe ) and where the drop link connects ( use the heel of your palm protected with folded cloth so you don't hurt your hand ) this will replicate the knock . Check the suspension on the other side knocks can tavel and be hard to locate , finally it could be the damper ( strut shock absorber ) or suspension top mounting , it might sound daft but have also had a worn door hinge pin cause a knocking noise , regards....
