If the galvanising is newish (bright) The perfect thing to do is to wash it with MORDANT solution, this is an etching primer, then just undercoat and gloss. Or!! two coats of Hammerite. You need to prime bare Galvanising with either, a mordant or a calcium plumbate primer as ordinary metal primer wont hold as the galvanising gives out salts that will push off the paint, You might have seen for example some old gates, garage doors with paint peeling and exposing galvanised metal, this is a perfect example why you should prime properly.
Ps there are universal primers which will work, check can though.
I'm still finding peeling galvanised garage doors, railings etc where folks have used just hammerite strait onto galvanised
