I’m building a base for a blockwork garage. 6m by 5m. The blockwork retaining wall for a slab will be of 9 inch hollow blocks, in a 750mm by 450mm trench (on a poured concrete footing).

The footing will contain some sensible amount of rebar, with rebar running up through the hollow block, and with A193 mesh set into the slab itself.

My question is this: Would people usually tie the slab into the side of the blockwork retaining wall? And if so, how? Everything else is rebar’d together. I was thinking I could perhaps drill holes in the retaining wall blocks (hollow) and run a few lengths of rebar into them, pouring concrete into the hollow block voids.

Cheers for any input.

No need.
If you were installing a DPM you couldn't/ wouldn't want to pierce it with rebar.
