Glass in roof - building regs

Looking to put large lantern in flat roof of proposed extension and am finding it difficult to actually find what the maximum permissible area of glass is. I've been quoted 20% of area but I thought I had seen some comment that it all depends on what time of glass is used eg Reflex, Pilkington-K etc etc.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the regs or let me know from experience what's permissible?
