Thanks for all previous posts I'm no DIY expert but have learnt a lot. Here's another question -The pump on my CH system has started to make a grinding noise when switched on. Is this a problem with the pump or caused by another problem on the system? What make of pump should I use if I need to replace the existing one which is Grundfos?

sounds like the bearing is going. or the propellor is damaged.
Grundfos are about the best, but you can get cheaper ones like terrier or wilo

check there is water in the system, often the cause of a noisy pump and an easy, no cost fix (maybe a few p if you're on a water meter).

Could you remove from your post all information about your CH system, so that we have to guess?

Oh hang on; you already did.

Oh, pfffff, I dunno. A Grundfos?

Or I can service your existing pump for £59.99 inc. VAT (+ postage).
