Hi I'm Andy this is my first post. I'm delving into carpentry as a novice an using common sense with my projects. I've got a couple of projects I'd like to share with you guys to get some thoughts and maybe some improvement tips.

This was my first project, a French style table that I have now in my hall.

The legs look like staircase baluster rails!

You've cheated.

how have fixed the spindles to the rails ??

assuming you have used timber board or simillar for the shelve underneath you should have rails accross the boards as they have little strength across the grain

timber board is bits off pine glued side by side

nice looking job
though thicker spindles would have looked better but thats a personal choice :D ;)

I was inspired by this. I have a bundle of Edwardian stair spindles in my garage, and a small oak table top that I was given for firewood. Trouble is there's an oil stain on the oak. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove oil stains from oak? ;)

Sorry, thread hijack, I'll start my own ;)

Cheers
Richard
