Hi I am tiling our bathroom floor with 60cmx60cm polished porcelain tiles I have bought the 6mm hardibacker board, I am keeping the floorboards down do I still need plywood as well and if so would I get away with either 5.5 or 9mm seeing as I have the hardibacker as well. I'm worried about a big step into the bathroom if I have any bigger as my tiles are 1cm thick too

no, you just use hardie. screw the floorboards down well first if they arent already

How did you get on with this?
I have the same issue. I have already bought my 6mm hardiebacker which is going down onto chipboard. Was wondering if I should also add a layer of ply?
