Hi,

Car: Peugeot 1.4 Auto (Y)

I posted a while back about an oil leak on my Wife's car. It has got worse, so decided to jack the car up and have a look behind the cambelt cover and sure enough found a leak from the head. There is no trace of oil in the coolant or loss of coolant so assume its just from one of the oilways out to the edge.

The cambelt is long overdue to be changed, so will have this donw at the same time as the head-gasket. Should I get the water pump replaced also?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter

Its usually recommended that you do but I got away without doing it for about 10 years or so but the last one I did the pump failed about 2000 miles later  so you pays your money and takes your choice :D

100% change the water pump, they're supposed to be done every 80k

otherwise you're paying for the labour to do the same job twice when you do decide to replace the waterpump
