I have a gas back boiler heating system that is programmed from a acl switchmaster sm400. There is no thermostat on the hot water cylinder and tyhis has been highlighted as a real safety issue. The programmer is difficult to access so before I try I wanted to know if it is possible to retrospectively attached a cylinder stat to this model of programmer. Thanks for any advice you can give

You probably have a "gravity hot water, pumped heating system". So you will have to add more than just a cylinder thermostat to control the HW temperature.

How many water pipes connect to the boiler?

What diameter are the pipes going into the side of the cylinder?

Do you have any valves (see pics)? Normally near the cylinder
