hedging next to wall

I have a 4ft brick wall at the front of my garden.I would like to hide it behind some sort of thick slow growing hedgeing plants.Could anybody please advise me what hedge to use. regards max

If you look on the website Hedges Direct you'll find plenty of options with photos.

My preferences, considering you're in Sheffield, would probably be Euonymous Japonica which also has a variegated version called 'Bravo', Lonicera Nitida which is quicker growing and also has a variegated version called 'Baggesons Gold', or a personal favourite Griselinia Littoralis which has large tough evergreen leaves and a particularly pleasing shade of green, although it's not for the most freezing exposed positions unless it's the coast.
 
Holly grows slowly, and as thick as you want to cut it. It keeps burglars away too.
