Hi

Had my boiler system powerflused by a Gas Safe company on Tuesday and since my boiler wont work i.e. no heating or water.

Just wondering if the engineer may have done something.

Any help would be apprecticated guys as the process cost me a fortune as I am due to have my heat exchanger changed next week by my insurance company.

Thanks in advance.

I am betting you had a fault
with the boiler and they came around and told you needed
power flushing at £600 before they would even look at it.

A few clues might help us like what make and model
of boiler is and what it is doing. Any error codes if any.

But if the heat exchanger is going to be replaced it
sounds as if your boiler is blocked up. But if that was the case
I can't see the powerflush did much of a job as they could
have flushed this out at the same time.

I don't think the OP was referring to British gas , more so an independant.

You made the mistake of having anything to do with British
Gas. BG who will tell you need expensive powerflushing
that is completely unnecessary. I am betting you had a fault

Do you think the engineer may have done something wrong or maybe the powerflush wrong? All he did was connect the machine to one downstair raditor and flushed the system for 4 hours (HARDLY ANY SLUDGE WAS FOUND) and then added an inhibtor. The system was flushed by a local firm NOT British Gas.

Now the boiler displays a solid red light on the control and when reset it works for 10seconds and goes to lock down.

Could be heat exchanger. Could simply be pump.
Or anything.
Does fan start? Does boiler ignite? Does boiler get hot?
More clues needed.

Seeing as my system has been power flushed and that FOUR different engineers have said the heat exchanger needs to be changed as its blocked, do you believe that once this is changed next week by the insurance company (after THREE months of going back and forward) that my problem will be resolved, which initally was that the hot water was lukewarm and the heating was perfect.

I am confused that now after the power flush, nothing works at all.

If your heating was fine and the hot water was only luke warm.
The most likely problem was a blocked plate heat exchanger.

That would have been easy to remove flush out and replace.
Or at the very worst replace.

Sounds like a lot of expense for something very easy and cheap
to fix.

Goes back to my original suggestion give any such insurances
the push and get yourself a nice local heating/boiler engineer who
knows what they are doing.

Thanks mate.

BUT I am confused why I have no hot water or heating after the power flush. Did the engineer do something wrong maybe??

If the heating was working before the flush and now it isn't
get him back. It should still be working.

Get him back in and you should not have paid without having everything working at least

The chances are he has managed to push the magneitite n crud into the divertor valve and pin is not travelling far enough now to activate the micro switches on these horrible B&Q boilers

The DHW plate heat exchanger should have been removed and cleansed separtley

Hi Mate

The guy came out this morning.

He said it wasnt him. He thinks that once thew heat exchanger is fitted the boiler will work fully. What do you guys think??

According to the error code on the boiler (One flashing light, and two solid red lights from left to right) indicates a flue problem.

UPDATE

Boiler lights up, heating and water works for 5minutes, and then boiler turns off, have to press reset to restart for another 5 minutes.

During this process the boiler makes noises.

During this process the boiler has the solid red lights as mentioned on last posts.

ANY IDEAS guys
