Hi,

I'm ambitions with a lot to learn....

I have just signed up here as i'm hoping someone can help me......

I live in a 1950's 3 bed ex council house......in each of the bedrooms there are built in brick cupboards.....

I want to take these out...Can I????

I've been reading all about load bearing walls and depending on which way the joists are.......

If I can take the cupboards our how do I take them out?

I'm quite ambitious when it comes to doing things in my house, I like to give things a go......not worried about the hard work or getting dirty.....love the satisfaction of doing things myself (but don't worry i know my limits)

any help or advice you can give will be massively appreciated....

Thank you!!!

a plan might be handy….

is there anything underneath?
get into the loft and see if joists meet there.

if they are just in a corner then they may not be supporting. - but hard to say

ask neighbours

I will post some pics tonight....

one is in the corner above the stairs....

I will also get up into the loft and look at the joists, all information is helpful, thank you!!!

Normally those brick build cupboards are just build on the floor boards and don't support anything in the loft.
