Help choosing tile colour please

Just had a beech kitchen fitted with black floor tiles and black matt worktop. Kitchen small so black tiles would really darken the room but don't know what other colour to use to keep the kitchen light and airy and give it a modern fresh look that won't be outdated and will appeal to the majority of people when I come to sell it on. Any ideas please?
