Ok im a bit of a noob at plumbing (aint we all?!) but im not sure i can afford to pay for a plumber to come round at this moment in time, this is something I want to attempt myself (on my head be it). I have had exp in changing toilet systems at home but that was failry easy compared to anything central heating related.

Ok so ive been in my house for nearly 7 years without really sorting out the home central heating, ive just kind of left it how it was as some bits seems to be working and heat is on in the house. Now things are starting to go wrong:

1/ The thermostat in the front room does not control anything anymore. I used to push it past 20C and it would click in, now it just does nothing. Not the end of the world (see point 3)

2/ Most of my radiators only got hot around the outside and cold in the middle.

3/ The temp valves are so stiff, infact ive already snapped two (the little nipple bit) with a wrench. Im wanting to ditch these and go to thermostat dials for each room I need them (2 upstairs bedrooms and a downstairs living room).

My house is upstairs/downstairs, its got the main boiler in the kitchen. Upstairs has a large water tank with the black tak above it (one with ballcock). In the spare room there is another black tank but this time its smaller.

Ok so im looking to sort all the points above but points 2 is priority (though i guess points 2 and 3 would need to be done at same time?).

Any help would be appreciated :)
